Live programming
I understand that Netflix can't get new movies right away but what about other premium networks like HBO or Showtime that get to show new movies on their respected networks? Netflix should have a channel that gets to play live programming like new movies that they can't offer on demand yet.

Current season shows
This one is pretty self explanatory. Netflix should be allowed to play current season television shows the same way Hulu Plus does. The day after a show airs, we should be able to watch it, commercial free.

Dvd's by mail
I would like to have this service back. There's a lot of new release items I want to see but I can't watch it because it's not available for instant streaming. I know the service is still available, but adding the Dvd by mail service would double my subscription rate.

Social features
I know that Netflix is working on getting a Facebook app together. This app will be available as soon as an outdated law is taken care of. I want more than a Facebook app. If you're streaming a movie on your Playstation and your friend sees that you're watching it, he should be able to join you. You have headset communication and you can watch a movie with your friend even if he's halfway around the world. There's also web cam capability on Playstation and Xbox.

Video Games
I would defiantly sign up to a lower rate video game by mail service. Gamefly offers a great service but it is far too expensive. I'm sad that the testing of video games by mail didn't go well and Netflix scrapped this idea earlier this year.

3D Streaming
I don't have a 3D television yet but I will someday and I would love to have a huge library of 3D content to use. 3D is expensive and knowing that there's a Netflix library of 3D content would make me more likely to make the jump into the future. With 3D blu ray discs being $30, Netflix would be my primary source for 3D content.

Need For Speed: The Run

Can you say wow? The Run breathes new life into the fading Need For Speed series. EA really got their act together on this one. The Run is a lot of fun. The missions get a little repetitive, but this game is worth buying for sure. Check it out if you liked NFS: Most Wanted and not a lot after that one, this game is one of the few gems in the Need For Speed series.

Tammy Swanson joins Breaking In

Megan Mullaly will join Breaking In for their second season premiering this year on Fox.

Breaking In is a wonderful show that has been brought back from cancelation, twice. Fox cancelled the show (Bret Harrison can't catch a break!) a few episodes into its first season and now for unknown reasons has ordered another 13 episodes, making that a season two.

I've never been huge into Chris Farley but I've always been a huge SNL fan. I'm that lame kid that stays home on Saturday nights to watch it. I've been reading a lot of autobiographies about former SNL cast members lately and they all had crazy stories about Farley. I've been on YouTube watching some of his stuff and I can see why. These sketches that aren't in his "Best Of" DVD are incredible. I've been on Netflix watching old episodes and I can't get enough.

I used to just think he was only liked because he was fat and he yelled a lot, but the man is brilliant. Check out some of my new favorite characters he played.

App Store Ideas

Grand Theft Auto has hit the Mac App store and I am nothing short of excited. I learned a few weeks back that Rockstar would be launching all three games from the Grand Theft Auto Three trilogy for 14.99 each. I decided to skip GTA III and wait for Vice City.

Vice is nothing short of amazing on Mac. (I bought a usb controller so I wouldn't be able to tell you how it plays with a keyboard) I originally played it on Xbox and Playstation 2 when it was first launched on those consoles.

This is a great move by Rockstar. When you have all star titles like the GTA trilogy, why not re-release them in a new format? It costs virtually nothing and makes a ton of money. With THQ shutting down I can see a lot of other video game companies flocking to The App Store, Playstation Network, Xbox Live etc. to make new profits off of games that already ran their course.

With the success of Grand Theft Auto on the App Store I can imagine other publishers are taking notice. I've put together a wish list of games I'd like to see on Mac.

The park in Springfield got some major renovations this week. Plywood Benders were in town and made the cities park less cruddy. Nothing new was built, but all of the ramps are now rideable.

Azek Board was added to the edge's of the manual pad. It is buttery now. I doubt it will hold up for more than a year, but it slides really well nonetheless.

Just the other day I drove out to the nearest GameStop which is 30 miles away from my home and bought a few used games. When I got home and popped one in, it didn't work. The disc was so scratched that there was no hope at all for getting it to work. I began to wonder, why do we still have discs? It's 2011, hard drive space is cheap, why are we still buying optical discs?

Optical discs were great when they first came out. Cd's sounded crisp, not having to rewind a movie was great. Now we live in an age where everything is instant. Media can be streamed or downloaded from a number of devices, not just computers. Apple recently released the new Mac Mini with no optical drive. I think that's a step in the right direction.

The future is downloads and streaming. In the future, you will not be buying software install discs, you will just be downloading your content directly from the source. OnLive has proven that full console games can be streamed with a high speed internet connection.

Discs bring extra moving parts to your console or computer. That spinner can wear out and break. Where does that leave you? Now you have a repair bill on your hands. What if that disc gets so scratched you can't play it? Now you just lost money on that.

Discs are a dead media. Even books have gone the digital route. It's just a matter of time when we'll be looking back at dvd's and wonder how we went through that, just like with cassette tapes.

Handheld Ramblings

I just got back into portable gaming. I was out for quite some time. I have found that my Android phone really only has one stable choice for gaming and that is Angry Birds. There are a ton of emulators out there that can turn your phone into a SNES or a GBA, but my phone has a pretty slow processor so those games kind of suck on it.

With my hopes of my phone becoming my new replacement console vanished, I turned to what I knew. What I know is the PSP. I've had two in the past and traded them in for bigger console games, I've decided to give it one more go around. I figured, they're a lot more affordable now than they used to be with the Vita coming out sometime soon and they're a lot of fun to play so why not give it one more spin.

The PSP is great for on the go gaming and I hope to grab a ton of games at a low end of cycle price. I defiantly think I will be keeping it in my collection this time around. I've been having a lot of fun playing PSONE Classics I had downloaded on my PS3.

I have been reading a lot about the news that Nintendo will be drastically cutting the price of the new 3DS this August. I have never played a DS for more than a few minutes but this intrigued me. Recently I discovered that the DS Lite can be hacked very easily that it would be dumb not to own one if you enjoy playing video games. I learned about a DS cartridge with a micro SD card slot that allows you to download any game and play it for free. At first I thought "sure that's awesome, but I don't want to buy another console, I already have three." Today I was at GameStop and used DS Lite's were $90. So for the price of one and a half new PS3 games I could have access to the entire DS game library plus imported titles.

With the 3DS having such a big price cut, one can only assume that being the best system out there that the other DS models will have price cuts as well. When the next paycheck comes I will be the proud owner of a (sort of) new DS Lite system.

Dave Chappelle Is Back, Bitches!

The beloved comic is planning a new TV show with a paid subscription service like Netflix, Sony’s Crackle,

or Hulu, which are now competing in the original programming game, a plugged-in source told Flash.

“Dave Chappelle’s going back to TV,” tattled our insider. “It’s not for a network. It’s for Netflix or Crackle or some other subscription service.”

Chappelle had one of the biggest flameouts in show business history when he abruptly went MIA in 2005, bolting his top-rated “Chappelle’s Show” in its third season. The funnyman shocked the world when he walked away from the $50 million Comedy Central would have paid him over the next two years.

“I felt like some kind of prostitute or something. If I feel so bad, why keep on showing up to this place?” Chappelle confessed to Oprah Winfrey when he returned from his strange pilgrimage to South Africa.

“The hardest thing to do is to be true to yourself, especially when everybody is watching.”

More recently, Chappelle has been dropping by comedy clubs from Los Angeles to San Francisco for
surprise standup gigs, calling himself the “Big Foot of Comedy” because “you never know when he’s
going to show up.”

A source at Hollywood’s Laugh Factory said Chappelle has been trying out fresh material: “It’s all new.

He started off talking about his career and what he’s going to do now, because someone like him can’t
do ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ He’s obviously working on some new project.”

Chappelle’s been joking about his stalled career and riffing about President Obama, but not all of it has been
side-splitting hilarity. “It was really depressing. He was talking about the past, about the show,” said a comedy
circuit veteran who caught a Chappelle gig at The Comedy Store in L.A.

“Not that many people walk away from a show like that on Comedy Central and get a second chance. But he’s
still incredible.” Chappelle appeared super-sober, said our source: “People were offering him [marijuana], but he
wasn’t taking any.”

A move to a streaming service like Hulu would allow Chappelle to bypass the lack of creative control he claims he
had at Comedy Central parent company Viacom.

Sony Won't Make Massive Investment in PS4

I've seen this article word for word posted all over the net, so I'm just going to steal it, too.

Sony's PS3 was pretty slow out of the gate with its $599 price tag, but Sony had little choice in terms of pricing due to the heavy costs surrounding Blu-ray and the Cell processor. The R&D and manufacturing took its toll on the company's bottom line and only now is the PlayStation division finally reaping some profits.

Sony this week confirmed the obvious: PlayStation 4 is coming, and indeed work has already started on the new hardware. However, this time around, the company has vowed not to make the same mistake twice; Sony claims it will not invest as heavily in a PS4 the way it did with the PS3.

Sony CFO Masaru Kato commented, "It is no longer thinkable to have a huge initial financial investment like that of the PS3."

That's all well and good, but we have to wonder what the implications of such a statement will be. How will this affect the final hardware design of PS3? Will it be underpowered compared to the next Xbox? You can be sure that Microsoft will make the financial investment needed to create an absolute beast of a console.

Google Music is amazing. I got an invite to the Beta and have been uploading my music library all night. Google has done it again. Everything they do is awesome, except for social networking. (Buzz, need I say more?) Music is great because you can upload your entire music library to a cloud and take it with you on virtually any device with internet service. Cell phones work as well, I'm using it on my LG Ally running Android 2.2. I think that once this goes public, it will shut down Pandora. Why listen to a song someone else think's you might like when you can just play your entire iTunes library?

I turned it on about 18 hours ago and I have roughly 1/7th of mu collection uploaded. Uploading takes a while when you first get started, but everything is automatic after that. You download new music, or rip an album and Music will automatically sync it with your Google account.

The Playstation Network has been down for some time now. A lot of people are pissed off about this. Those people need to go outside. Who care's if you can't play online video games? Your system still plays games and movies. If anything, the network being down is a good thing. Sony will be giving out freebies when PSN goes back online this week. Winning, DUH! It's not like you're paying anything for the service. I can imagine that I would be a little upset if I was a subscriber to Xbox Live and paid a monthly fee, but Playstation Network is free. It's free unless you fell victim to Sony's sales pitch and paid for Playstation Plus which basically gives you no essential benefits over regular PSN use.

I've found that I play my Playstation 2 more than my Playstation 3. I've owned my PS3 for about two years now and I've found that I use it as mainly as a blu-ray player, Netflix streamer, and media server, all for watching movies. Yup, a nice $300 Netflix player.
